Federico Colli has signed an exclusive multi-album recording contract with Chandos Records. Described as “extraordinary” (Michael Church, The Independent) and “a star” (Tim Ashley, The Guardian), Federico will embark on a series of recordings of the music of Scarlatti and Bach. Ralph Couzens, Managing Director of Chandos Records says: “Chandos are thrilled to have Federico Colli join our roster of exclusive artists. Renowned for his expressive clarity of playing, we are very excited with what he can bring to our first recording project, the music of Scarlatti. Followed very quickly by Bach and all tied to worldwide concerts, we look forward to a fruitful collaboration.” Federico Colli says: “I am delighted and very excited to start this new collaboration, it is a great honour to be given this incredible opportunity to work with Chandos. I am really looking forward to working together with all the team at Chandos and to recording this wonderful repertoire.” His first recording with Chandos is a selection of Scarlatti piano sonatas which will be recorded this summer and released in May 2018, followed shortly after by a disc of Bach and Bach-Busoni. Federico continues: “It was important to me to find a label which would allow me to make a series of recordings and approach them through deep research on sound and styles. I am very grateful to Ralph Couzens.”
Federico’s debut solo CD, featuring works by Beethoven, Scriabin and Mussorgsky, was released in April 2014 to coincide with his debut at the Southbank Centre’s International Piano Series by Champs Hill Records, impressing the critics who praised him for his “crystalline brilliance and translucence that takes you to the very heart of everything he plays” (Bryce Morrison, Gramophone).
