The past and the contemporary meet, as Gianandrea Noseda conducts Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1—at once something entirely new, yet reaching back to a time gone by. Noseda is known for his mastery of Russian repertoire, and his previous Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Shostakovich recordings on the LSO’s own label have attracted glowing reviews. This year, marking 70 years since the composer’s death, Noseda embarks on a cycle of Prokofiev’s symphonies with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Prokofiev: Symphony No. 1 will be released digitally on Friday 3 March 2023 via all major streaming and download services, available in Dolby Atmos, and a track from the album will be released as a single on Friday 27 January. At the culmination of the cycle, which will be released digitally over the coming years, a physical box set will be made available on SACD.
