Jazz-inflected scores from LSO Live

Posted on June 7, 2022 by Brian Ritterspak

NAZARENO! BERNSTEIN, STRAVINSKY, GOLIJOV, London Symphony Orchestra, Simon Rattle/LSO Live SACD  A lively and welcome (if not particularly generous) disc of jazz-inflected orchestral scores, dispatched with enthusiasm by Rattle and the glorious LSO. If Leonard Bernstein’s own performance of his Prelude, Fugue and Riffs remains definitive – no one can match the composer in his own music – this is still a very welcome collection, particularly in splendid LSO Live surround sound.
